What book(s) would you like to see
turned into a movie?
Frankly, I'm torn about this. On the one hand, a movie adaptation can be an amazing spectacle that enthralls fans of the book. On the other, it can repulse fans due to huge (and seemingly random/needless) deviations from the book. Then again, some adaptations have taken enormous strides away from the original material, yet successfully produced a movie that appeals to book-fans and newcomers alike (such as How to Train Your Dragon or Ella Enchanted).
I guess, if we're hoping for the best, I'd love to see Tamora Pierce's Tortall books adapted into movies. I think with technology where it is now, Alanna's story would still be the best place to start, since it has minimal need for special effects. But I'd love to eventually see Stormwings and Spidrens running amok with Daine or Kel.
But please, PLEASE let the screenwriters be great!

Ive never really ventured towards Tamora Pierce books, though I really enjoyed her Beka Books with Bloodhound and Terrier.

I agree that it's a bit of crapshoot - you just don't know which movie adaptations will suck or which will be good.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Book Blogger Hop post!
I completely agree - the film can either enhance the book or ruin it! Sometimes it might be a good thing not to have your fav book turned into a film!
ReplyDeleteThis week's question was difficult for me as well...an incredible movie is just as wonderful as an incredible book...but a half-slapped together movie with writers and directors who have their own agendas that have nothing to do with the original story is just plain tragic :(
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your comments. I also agree with your comment you left at Reading Lark. I think werewolf movies need to get a lot better about making the transition look right.

I'd love to see some of Tamora Pierce's books turned into movies, though it's been ages since I've read them!
ReplyDeleteI want to see The Marble Faun made into a film. Come see why. Happy Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Tamara Pierce's latest books, although I loved the Alanna books. I was at a reading where Pierce was presenting... she had lots of fans there dressed as characters from her books, and they looked great! If a movie looked as good as they did, it would be in fantastic shape.
ReplyDeleteHey, there - just returning your visit. I love your graphics! Did you do all these? The buttons up top for Twitter, Goodreads, etc. are awesome!
ReplyDeleteHey there! Returning your hop! This is a great site! Even though I can only see it on my iPhone as a mobile version. I am currently at the inlaws but as soon as I get home I will come check it out again. As many before me, I completely agree. Movies can go either way. Sometimeswe think it will beawesome only to find the book got chopped and hacked on the way to the screen. :(
ReplyDeleteYou just never know what you are going to get when it comes to movies based on books. I have been disappointed many times, but I still find them interesting to watch. Thanks for visiting my blog.
